After my previous post about SP2 - major complication now

My laptop has been stable for about a week, used it at teatime and closed
down as normally but now it won't boot up at all. Usually after a failure
earlier when I then chose to restart Windows normally it then started up but
tonight it won't. I have tried both Start Windows normally and Start with
last know good configuration neither works. When I first boot I can see the
hard disc is 'working' then the Wireless card lights up so it's obviously
doing something with that and then I get nothing else just the Windows XP
screen with the blue bar going round and round. It also mentions starting
with Safe Mode, Safe mode with networking or Safe Mode with command prompt
but have never used any of these and didn't know which was best to us. Want
to be able to boot up and then remove SP2 (which was when my problems
started) and see if everything was hopefully back to normal. Can anyone
help please.

Start in safe mode.Log on as administrator and remove sp2. It will ask
for a password.If you don't know it,leave blank and press enter.If
that does not work, log on to your account.Or in safe mode, restart the
computer and see if it starts normally.
