after deep scan for scandisk WIN XP HOME dont't reboot

Mauro

I had to do a deep scandisk con WIN XP HOME and it asked for next time
reboot, it will do the function.

It made the controls and at the end, it wrote that everything was OK.
now I can't reboot the system, it always write the CONTROL IS DONE.

NOW, WHAT I HAVE TO DO FOR LEAVE FROM THIS SITUATION? It is like I have to
shutdown the DEEP CONTROL in SCANDISK, but the system can only boot, and
start again the HDD CONTROL.

someone can help me please?

Scandisk or Chkdsk? Scandisk is not an appropriate tool for XP.

If the disk utility made repairs and is then unable to boot the operating
system, it is possible that some of the damage repaired was related to
operating system files. May want to try a repair install.

If you continue to have problems with chkdsk insisting that it runs at
startup, you may want to download some diagnostic tools from your hard
drive manufacturer and check the integrity of the drive.

I did the tests over the disk MAXTOR 40GB EIDE
and it say there are some problemns over the disk.
but before I did the Scandisk (not CHKDSK) from MY COMPUTER i was able to
start the OS.

I think I have to format my drie, but because it is NTFS, I can't copy the
file or see the TREE.

Really the drive is talking, during the POST, about a SMART damage, And copy
the data, but NOW I CAN'T.

bye

Unfortunately, Scandisk is not designed to work with NTFS.

The only good thing about S.M.A.R.T. warnings is they usually give you a
small window of time to copy off files before the drive fails. Replace the
drive. Install XP. Drop the old drive in to the system. Grab your files.
Tank the old drive since it's failing and unreliable.
