I am using a hand-me-down Compaq Armada 7400. It runs at 300Mhz (aprox)
and
has 128MB of RAM. I installed Win 2000 on it and it runs fine, mostly
doing word
processing duties and some powerpoint.
My plan was to expand it memory to 256MB, the maximum for this model,
IIRC,
so I was about to purchase a 128MB expansion module for it. Before doing
this
I removed the cover where the RAM module resides. To my surprise I found
2
modules in there, so I assume that each is 64MB, but this puts a hamper
in my
plans because I will have to remove one of the modules. This means that
my
RAM expansion will not go from 128MB to 256, rather it will go to 192MB.
I still have to investigate whether this model will accept different
sized modules
or whether both modules have to be the same capacity. My question is
whether
there is enough performance improvement when 64MB are added to the
system
to make the RAM expansion (of 64MB more than what it is now) worth it.
Thank you
