Following the WinXP service pack 2 upgrade then I now get the
following error...
ActiveMovie Window: explorer.exe
The instruction at "0x0389f9ff" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The
memory could not be "written".
Explorer then proceeds to restart.
This happens whenever I click on a video file or when the system tries
creating Thumbnails of video files. During this Service Pack 2 upgrade
I also installed Media Player 10, where even installing this
application a second time does not solve this problem.
Active Movie crashing Explorer, during the handling of a system task,
sounds like a serious Microsoft bug to me. And this system is not even
kind enough to pop up the usual "report the problem to Microsoft"
option.
The big question is how do I fix this problem? Beyond uninstalling
Service Pack 2 that is, when apart from this problem then this seems
like a better system.
A full fix would be nice, but I would even consider turning off Active
Movie for now. If only I knew how that is...
Thanks,
Cardman.
