Open XP's "Help and Support" and type: ACTIVATION , and hit enter.
Then click on article titled: "Understanding activation and registration".
The information you're seeking lies within that article.

Well, for one, when you activate XP, the Activation Wizard will tell you
that the activation was successful if it was successful. You can start the
Activation Wizard yourself at any time. Click on "Start|All
Programs|Accessories|System Tools|Activate Windows". If your installation
is activated, the Wizard will tell you so.

By the way, do not confuse "Activation" with "Registration". "Activation"
is compulsory, and the OS will only boot in Safe Mode if it is not activated
within 30 days of installation. "Registration" is totally voluntary, and is
not necessary to use the OS.

Thanks for the feedback, had a look around and found if I use Adia32, all
the info I need is there. Plus if I do a Run command: "oobe/msoobe /a" (got
it from another ng) it tells me if I'm activated or not. Sometimes the old
noggin gets stuck in the wrong gear and I can't think straight. There is one
thing about the post below, if you're already activated "Start|All >
Programs|Accessories|System Tools|Activate Windows". doesn't show.
Don't know where this bold font is coming from?
Thx again guys, Colin D.

My friend, I disagree with you. This particular installation of XP I am
running at this minute has been activated since @ September, and the
"Accessories|System Tools|Activate Windows" choice is prominent on my "All
Programs" menu. It is at the top of the list of "Accessories|System Tools".
Each time I click on it, the Activation Wizard comes up and tells me that
Windows has already been activated. Since October 2001, with the RTM code,
this has been true. There WAS a problem with it not appearing as it should,
or appearing intermittently, during the public betas and Release Candidates.

Try sorting the "System Tools" menu by Name (right-click on the "System
Tools" menu and choose "Sort by Name" from the popup menu). The choice
should appear at the top of the list.

Sorry to say, but it does not appear there any more, if it did in the
begining. What happened I don't know, I just know that now it's all o.k..
Thx, Colin D.
