After AVG 2013 Registry clean up had managed to wipe out sndvol32.ex from my system32 (loses volume control program), I have tried doing a restore to last week.
However after the process was completed, up pops the message 'unable to restore'!
Laptop is an Acer Travelmate 2483 with XP Pro installed.
Is there a problem with restore on this model that anyone knows about?

As I've posted in the software thread, I have tried expanding the file from a windows XP disc using Run/CMD (using the Microsoft site guide) but it comes up with the message 'unable to open file'.

So kind of stuck either way.;)

Restore can be hit and miss sometimes.

As for trying to expand anything through CMD, just do a repair install if you have your OS media to hand.
And IMHO ditch AVG :D
