Access Runtime Versions

Hi Guys,

Can anyone tell me how I can produce a runtime version of an Access database
and distribute it amongst a sales force without having to purchase a full
copy of Access for each user.

It's not that we do not want to pay the licensee's, they just do not need a
full copy, so can we just purchase runtime licences? and were in the UK can
I purchase them. Also how much should I expect to pay for a copy?

Many thanks
Les

You only need purchase one copy of the runtime system, and then distribution
of your application is zero cost....

I don't think you will find a a2000 runtime available anymore.

however, you can *usually* use a a2000 mde with a2003.

Note that for a2007, the developer tools will be free. So, presumably, you
could upgrade to access 2007 for $109, and you would have all you need to
create royally free ms-access applications. the only hitch here is that the
runtime and package wizard for a2007 is not yet released....

Thanks for that Albert,

I have only kept the 2000 version as we have some of the staff still useing
2000.

Do you know if I update my version and then distribute a 2003 runtime
version would this work...assuming we remove the a2000 versions?

Thanks
Les

Yes, that is what I meant by:

"however, you can *usually* use a a2000 mde with a2003."

And, you don't really have to remove the a2000 versions.....

Hi Albert,

I know this is a little off subject but, I have downloaded the Visual Studio
2005 as a trial, however, it has the extension .img which I cannot find
anything that will allow me to extract and open this file to install.

I cannot see anything on the webpages to advise of this, can you help
please?

Regards
Les

Note that this is *not* the Visual Studio Tools for Office which
contains the Access runtime.

This is a CD image file for which you will need to burn to a CD using
a tool that knows how to deal with .img files. Or you might be able
to use the MS Virtual CD-ROM control panel

Hi Tony,

Thanks for that, however, you have suggested that this is not the
application that will allow me to create a runtime version...can you provide
any further information on that for me please.

I have to say looking for this information and an easy way to buy this via
the Microsoft site and reseller sites very confusing, complicated and almost
impossible.

You want the Visual Studio Tools for Office.
