Access crashes when attempting RTF export from report

Alan Rolfe

I recently upgraded my hard disk and had to reinstall Office (97). Now on an
Access database, which has worked fine for years, when I try to export one
of my reports as an RTF file, the whole application crashes, with one of
those "xxx has encountered a fatal error and is closing down" messages. Can
anyone suggest what might be causing this?

TIA

I can't explain what causes it but can suggest a possible workaround. Try
having Word open before doing the export.
I have a similar problem when I try to e-mail a file from Windows Explorer.
If Outlook is not open, I get a fatal error.

Thanks.

The thing now seems to have cured itself. I installed the Office 97 value
Pack and then it worked OK. But thanks for the tip.
