accepting iCal event invitations

Whenever I recieve an iCal event invite from someone on a Mac using Mail, the
"accept", "decline" etc. buttons are greyed out in Outlook 2007. I cannot
"accept" the invitation.

Interestingly, when this very same invite appears in my Blackberry, I can
accept it there. Syncronizing my bberry eventually gets the event into my
Outlook calendar, but that's a stupid workaround. If the Bberry can"accept",
certainly Outlook should be able to do so.

Try logging into Outlook Web Access and opening the .ICS file, and then you
should be able to Accept or Decline on the invitation.

I think the full client Outlook is stripping something out of the .ICS
functionality, not sure yet we should do some testing on lower security
settings in Outlook, etc.

Michael,

I find your suggestion below to be very close to accurate. Although when
you login to Outlook Web Access you do have the option to
accept/decline/tentative, however outlook calendar does not actually get
updated when you do click on one of those options. The only way I can get it
to work is to:

1) login using Outlook Web Access
2) double click on the .ICS file
3) click on SAVE (don't click on open) to save the .ICS file or files on the
local machine (i.e. desktop, my document, etc)
4) with the native MS outlook application opened on your machine, open (i.e.
double click) the .ICS file from your desktop and then click on accept,
decline, tentative.
5) MS outlook calendar is now updated on your local machine, web access, or
even PDA phone configured with exchange push
