A7V333 and USB 2.0

I know there is an issue with USB 2.0 on the A7V333 and have tried
everything short of reinstalling to get these ports to work. I have not
cared to use these ports until recently because I now have a USB 2.0 device.
The device (Creative Nomad 3) powers up when plugged in, so it's not a
hardware problem. I have WinXP Pro and have installed SP1. I have
installed the drivers that come with the board. I don't even get any bangs
(!) in device manager. It tells me I have 2 "VIA Rev 5 or later USB
universal host controllers" and 2 "USB root hubs". I just can't get the OS
to acknowledge that I have these USB 2.0 ports. Any help would be
appreciated.

TIA,

You should also have a Enhanced controller detected. If you don't, USB 2.0
isn't enabled. Don't remember the exact wording, but it should be something
like "VIA Enhanced USB Controller".

You actually should have 4 occurrences of "VIA Rev 5 or later USB Universal Host
Controller" listed. Remember that the USB 2.0 is backward compatible. To go
with that there are 4 "USB Root Hub" items.

When the USB 2.0 Controller is enabled (via hardware jumper on board), you will
see a "VIA USB Enhanced Host Controller" appear if you have XP SP1 installed.
After it is properly running then you should see a "USB 2.0 Root Hub" appear.
If you disable the "VIA USB Enhanced Host Controller" in the Device Manager, you
will loose the "USB 2.0 Root Hub" but you will still see all 4 of the USB 1.1
devices.

The fact that you don't see any of the additional hardware devices makes me
wonder if the jumper on the motherboard is actually connecting pins 1-2 on the
USB2.0 Enable. If you are certain that the jumper is in the correct position
and that the jumper is a good jumper, then you have a problem with your
motherboard.
