I have never tried this... *grins*

It should work? If not then you should have already saved your original
boot.ini and then you can just edit it manually...

However...

Repairing a Multi-Boot:

After you install 2k you'll boot to the XP CD and go ahead and do the
rebuild of the boot.ini file and it *should* pick up that it's now dual boot
with 2k and XP. Note that it's SHOULD as I've never really tried it but it
sounds perfectly logical to me. ;-)

Hi,

You can able to install the win 2000 by choosing another
partision,during the installation procedure time.

First you want to install the xp,install it to the primary partision
(c:\)then install the win 2000 into another partision.

After the installation completion the system will be, a dual boot up
machine having two OS.The boot.ini will be automatically edited while
the second installation.

I read this and then I re-read it just to make sure...

Windows 2000 is older and will not automatically be aware of XP and thus the
OS will not be dual boot automatically if the older OS is installed first.
In an ideal situation you'd install 2k clean, then XP, which would make a
dual boot system.

I'll run with the understanding that that is what you meant to say and it
just came out backwards. ;)

Hi Galen,

Thank you so much, for clearing up my mistake.

No worries - if I had a nickel for every time I've had someone fix something
I'd either mistyped or just plain been wrong I'd easily have enough to
buy... Well, probably not that much but I bet I'd get a few bucks worth from
the past years. ;)
