17inch NEC model LCD very thin and silver looking to match my future
Mac Mini
Its a very good monitor for the price, Videogames play with no
ghosting, no dead pixels, includes DVI/VGA , internal interface
switcher and external controls. It scales down real nicely and I play
HL2 at 1024x768 and notice no problems in terms of quality, mame plays
nice on it also. The monitor unfortunately comes pre-set with a
horrible glare inducing eye straining setup. Below is a tweak to get it
at optimal calibration (I used an ATI videocard 9800xt) Took me a while
to get this down as I moved from CRT to LCD

Optimal 1735NXM settings (physical environment, 4x60 Watt 6500K lights)

1. USE DVI, download color profiles from NEC for the 1735NXM

2. In windows go to display properties, select effects and use
Cleartype to smooth edges of screen fonts.
3. Go to display properties,settings and click on advanced and select
a custom setting for dpi and use 106dpi.
4. before rebooting select ATI color tab and follow the color
directions
below.

ATI Color settings
[SET Monitor brightness to zero using the function/select buttons]
Red]
Gamma = .74
Brightness = 62
Contrast = 36

Green
Gamma = .74
Brightness = 62
Contrast = 36

Blue
GAMMA = .74
Brightness = 31
Contrast = 36

All steps 1-17 should be visible with 17 being 100% black and 1 being
100% white and no 7 should look like a light neutral grey.
The bottom third of the display has a slightly higher brightness than
center/top but this is typical of a 280 dollar LCD vs
a an expensive 999USD+ calibrated monitor. You can tilt the monitor to
minimize the difference.
