2007 - Default SaveAs to earlier versions?

To make the Word '97-2003 (.doc) file format the default, do the following:
Click the Office Button to display the Office menu
Click Word Options to display the Word Options dialog box
In the left pane, click Save
Under Save Documents, click the arrow in the Save files in this format
drop-down list and click Word '97-2003 Document (*.doc)
Click OK


To make the documents look like they were created in Word 2003, do the
following:
Create a new document based on Normal template
On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Change Styles, click Style Set
and click Word 2003
On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Change Styles, click Fonts and
click Office Classic
On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Change Styles, click Set as
Default

On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click Margins and click
Office 2003 Default
On the Page Layout tab, in the Page Setup group, click the Page Setup Dialog
Box Launcher, Page Setup dialog box, Margins tab, Default, Yes
Saves the changed margins

I have done this repeatedly, and it resets itself back to (*.docx)
Any idea why, or how to fix this?
