Has anyone seen the following error. I am trying to install O/S but this
message comes up:

1762 Configuration Change Has Occurred.

176 The system has been tampered with.

System-security - Administrator password required.

Type your password, then press Enter.

I cannot get past this screen, because no password works.

Thanks

Hi,

Sounds like a BIOS password, you may need to reset defaults (usually done by
moving a jumper on the motherboard) to get past it.

BIOS is volitale as well. Remove the little "watch" battery and and that will
reset the BIOS as well.

I took out the battery for about 4 hours but it still does the same thing.
The jumper does it get moved or take it right off. I tried moving it to the
next pin but didn't help.
It is an IBM board
The only numbers are: 2000 1 06P2525 01
11519K5609ZJ1HLS16JY44 FRU09K9982106
I couldn't find anything to do with my board
Thanks for any help

Consult your computer's manual for instructions on accessing the built in anti-virus protection in your BIOS. Most new computers have the capability to watch for changes to the master boot record of the hard disk. An installation of a new operating system will definitely write to the MBR. Turn this feature off until your installation is complete.

Security Chip Built into MOBO

This is regarding the last post above, if you do not remember the administrator password you are basically screwed. one reason is because if you look at the bottom right hand corner you will see a square chip attached to the board, that is the special IBM only security chip where if you remove it it wont boot, if you forget the assword get a new board cause IBM is the only one that can unlock it, well actually they just throw throw board away. So for the guy above me if you dont remember the password just get a new board and throw the board away.
