Just out of interest, but have you ever tried going via Dublin instead of Maidenhead? The results came up with almost double the speed, when I tried it. Limerick is nearly as good. It made the biggest difference to download speeds - uploads were pretty much the same, regardless of which "pyramid" I used. :)

I am on 10meg with Virgin.

    I did a test with broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk 6568Kbps and 485Kbps.

I then did a check with speedtest.net 9533Kbps and 275Kbps can anybody tell me why such a big diference?

You're on cable aren't you..Try do checks at peak time..Say when Eastender or Corrie or god fricking forbid Emerdale is on...Watch the speeds decrease then...
