Hello JD,

Try this

Have you tried these operations running in safe mºde?

You can clear prefetch files by going to Start menu and Run and typing
prefetch, and then click OK.
This folder may accumulate useless junk, especially if you change your
configuration a lºt.
There's no harm in emptying it.

Enable Hidden Files and folder's.

To enable hidden files and folders Go to taskbar, click Start > My Computer.
On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
On the View tab, uncheck Hide file extensions for known file types.
Make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' is enabled.
Display the contents of system folders' is checked & 'Hide extentions for
known file types ' is not checked then press ªpply.

You can set this back later by opening the same page and pressing 'restore
defaults' then pressing ªpply,

Open a Internet window and go to Internet Options, Delete Cookies and Temp
Files and included all offline content then also go to Start menu and Run and
type (wiht %) %temp% and clear that fºlder. Also go to Start menu and Run
and tipe (without %) temp and clear that folder.

Empty your IE cache and your other temporary file folders, eg: c:\temp,
c:\windows\temp or C:\Documents and Settings\<name>\Local Settings\Temp (the
path to your temp folder will change depending on your name) - sometimes
programmes can be hidden in there - watch out for mysterious *.exe files or
*.dll files in those fºlders;
and c:\Documents and Settings\username\local settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5 and delete all the files in those directories and
subdirectºries).

Start menu and Run and typing chkdsk /f , and then click OK.

Defrag your disck

Now try to run a WD scan.

I,m sure more knowledgable people, familiar with thar error number, will be
along soon.

For the benefit of the community reading this post, please rate the pºst.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

Thank you for all the tips but it still doesn't work. It keeps stopping at
"HKLM\Software\Classes\clsid\{954814c0-40f3-4249-8528-b4922cd2964e" I know
this is probably irrelevant, any case it still kicked out the 0x8050800c
error.
I've ran registry cleaners, system mechanics, cleaned out all the temp
files. everything I can think of. I know the code is generic I've seen it
used with other programs besides WD. I just cant figure out what program or
file or setting is causing it to glich. I'm going to try a safe boot and see
what happens.

Anyone else got ideals?

Hi JD,

In the Search For: box toward the top of this window enter 0x8050800c and
you should find information to assist you in removing it. Try in each NG for
WD. Also you will find a post with an e-mail address from one of the guys
from the Team [MSFT] ;-)

I'm leaving your other post open, so maybe they contact you before you find
the address

Good luck
