Performance of the Supermicro X7DWA-N
The assembly went smoothly. I used the following parts in the build:
- Supermicro X7DWA-N Motherboard
- 2 x Intel X5482 CPUs with Dynatron H46G heatsinks, included fans replaced with Vantec 80x38MM
- 4x2gig DDR2-800 FB-Dimms (Transcend)
- Single 36 gig WD Raptor
- PCP&C 750w Silencer PSU
- Leadtek 7800GTX Video card
- Lian LI PC70 case
Now to see what this beast will do. First an old benchmarking favorite, SuperPi1m, and although not pertinent as it is single threaded, it does give you some idea of the potential of the system. This is at the system max, 8x450 or 3603MHz:

Next is Cinebench10 64 bit. This is pure CPU power and shows the power of one core and the “speedup” using the 8 cores. This is at 3574MHz. 4407/26,662 There aren’t many faster than this that are air cooled:

Last is Sisoft Sandra, Multi-core efficiency and then the Multimedia test:
