What is your favorite video/computer game to learn to break a problem down into manageable pieces and analyze a challenge logically and think under pressures?

I need some recommendations.

I am clueless about computer games. I don't even know if this is the
right forum to ask this question.

I am inspired by the answers to the following question at
http://ask.metafilter.com/mefi/51374

One person recommends real time builder strategy games such as "Age of
Empires" as a great way to learn to break a problem down into
manageable pieces and analyze a challenge logically and think under
pressures.

What about traditional software games such as chess , Solitaire , 9
Men's Morris , Go, Reversi ?

Or problem solving software games designed for all almost ages?

What about hand held computer games? Any recommendation to learn to
solve problems?

What do you think ?

If you agree, what video/software game(s) would you recommend ?

Thanks a million.
