Our 3 CAD workstations and the production equipment are networked through a 100M hub
The tool templates and job database is on one workstaion running Windows 2000 Pr
The other 2 workstations are running on Windows XP. When the user runs the CAD program on his XP machine and tries to open a file from the database (a mapped drive to the WIN2000 workstation)he has to wait up to 5 minutes for the file list to display before choosing a file. It takes just as long if I try opening the database folder in explorer. The folder is only 24MB although it has about 1600 file
The network runs well otherwise and connects through to our main server (windows2000 server) and I can display folder contents with around 3500 files very quickly. I also see other workgroups as well as opening files with ease (mostly WIndows 98 workstations)
Any ideas why it takes so long to open the folders in the windows 2000 pro machin
