Every time I attempt to install XP Service Pack 1 I get an error message: "Service Pack 1 setup error" "service pack 1 setup canceled" - I followed the instructions in the knowledge base article 329261 "To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then click Run
In the Open box, type regsvr32.exe licdll.dll, and then click OK
You should receive the following message
DllRegisterServer in licdll.dll succeeded.
Click OK
Click Start, and then click Run
In the Open box, type regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll, and then click OK
You should receive the following message
DllRegisterServer in regwizc.dll succeeded.
Click OK, and then continue with the installation of SP1.
BUT..
It didn't work!!!!!!!
I've even ordered the CD to install it but it didn't work either
Does anybody know if there are any other options
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
Ameli

Is there a possibility that your operating system is
pirated?

What changes have been made to MPA in Windows XP SP1? How
do these changes affect customers?

Windows XP SP1 includes additional measures that are
designed to make sure that customers who have valid
licenses receive the full benefits of owning licenses.
Windows XP SP1 includes the following changes:
Access to the Windows XP SP1 updates is denied to
computers that have pirated copies of Windows XP.
Product Keys are validated during activation.
Cracks in the activation process have been corrected.
Additional features have been added to provide a better
customer experience, including an additional three-day
grace period to reactivate after significant hardware
changes are made. Volume License customers can now
encrypt their Volume License Keys (VLK) during unattended
installations.

Licensed customers are not affected by any of these
changes.
