This is obviously a hardware issue - is your system adequately cooled? How
do you know the noise is coming from your speakers? The CPU makes a high
pitched whine when it reaches a dangerously high temperature. Check the
cooling - what is the CPU temperature when idle and under full load? An
AthlonXP has a threshhold of between 90° and 95°C, whilst a P4 only between
70° and 75°C. Sounds to me like your processor's heading to an early
grave...
