Xp does not sync all network drives files and folders

When I try to sync a network drive using xp the initial synchronisation says
complete but when I disconnect from the network only part of the folder is
there.

There does not seem to be any logic as to why files are missing, there are
many subfolders some have all their files, some have non and some have a few
files but are missing others.

We are mainly trying to sync Word and Excel docs so there is no issue with
the type of files.

Is there a limitation to the amount of file size you can sync? The network
drives do contain ~ 1gb.

Can anyone think of another reason why this behaviour occurs?

I have tried reinitialising the CSC cache but to no effect.

We are using xp clients in a Windows Server 2003 environment.
