I have downloaded the trial version of XP 64-bit and burned the ISO file to a
disc but it won't run as suggested. I then extracted the winrar files and
burned them to another disc but when I click setup it tells me this version
of windows will only run if booted from startup. Trying to boot from the disc
just tells me this version of windows is incorrect.

How on earth do you install the OS? The instructions that came with the
email from MS seem too simple and don't work. "Insert disc, setup file should
start automatically. If not, in Windows Explorer, select setup.exe and begin
installation". Not. "This version of windows must be installed by booting off
CD" But it won't. Any suggestions please.

The problem may be the way you are burning the ISO file to disk. It must be burned as "an image" to be bootable. Nero and Roxio products are capable of burning the ISO as a bootable image. You can also get the free ISO Buster software from the following location.

ISORecorderV2RC1.msi
http://alexfeinman.brinkster.net/dow...orderV2RC1.msi

Download the software setup file, install and then go to the following page for instructions on burning the image.

How to use ISO Recorder:
http://alexfeinman.brinkster.net/HowTo.htm

You also need to have the computer set to boot from the CD drive first.
