I noticed some funny things happening recently

Whole folders have dissappeared

My recycle bin has items in it but they are invisible

"£" signs display as "7" in explorer when I am attached to web

There are probably more but I haven't noticed them yet.

I ran Norton 2003. It found nothing. I disabled it and downloaded and ran
AVF. It found the I-worm/swem virus. I went to the grisoft.com website and
their tool apparently fixed registry etc.

However all of the above remain.

Thanking you all in anticipation of some help

Chris

Before doing more searching for a virus, or trojan, I'd be testing
the hard drive. Try running a thorough test with scandisk.
