is there a way to set up a profile in win xp for gaming only? disable
everything except those things needed 100% to run the pc? i want to create a
profile for gaming only and when i game, boot into that profile so nothing
is running at all. how do you do this? i want to disable every little thing
in windows that can be disabled/turned off and make a profile with that
minimal boot thing just for games. and if you can, where can i go to find
what i can disable and how to do all of this?

Best source of info is Black Viper:

http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/service411.htm
http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

You can see which services to disable if you plan to run only as a
gamer. You have to be careful though, because when you disable some
services you lose capabilities such as printing, burning CDs, etc.

You could create an account with administrative privileges and there
disable this stuff. In another account you would have the default
services and you would choose which account/profile to load during
boot.

Good luck

yeah thanks. i tried to get to the viper page a while ago, weeks and it was
offline,
umm, i can make a user called gamer, in there disable everything except that
which is needed to boot and game. wouldn't care about burning cd's or web
access or anything, just pure gaming performance. i'll try it out and see
what hapens.
1: go to the site and check it out.
2: create user account as admin, disable everything i can and call this user
gamer
3: log in gamer profile to game
4: have fun,

Just go here:
http://www.blackviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

and scroll down a bit. You'll find a table with the configuration for
gaming.
