I have installed Windows Vista Beta 2 on Virtual PC 2004 SP1. I am new to
using this and would like to know that if I use NAT (shared networking), is
this supposed to work?

Yes. You can either use NAT where it shares the same IP address of the
host PC or you can use whatever the other is where it gets assigned its
own IP address. Sometimes the latter way is the easier to go if you
want to test networking with an OS installed on VPC.

Are you just trying to get internet connectivity? If so you should accept
the default setup and it should just happen. We are expecting Virtual
Machine Additions for Vista Beta 2 to be released shortly. The adds will
greatly improve performace of your Vista vm. Info will probably show up on
the VPC and VSR2 home pages but MS has not decided on the details of
availability.

Hello jhastie...

How did you install Vista B2 on VPC2004SP1? I tried it twice and got a blue
screen.

1. First I tried to make a clean install. Blue screen when expanding...
2. Tried an upgrade to XP SP2 (clean updated version). The machine restarted
once and then got the Blue screen just after expanding...

Thanks for re3sponding, but no, it did not work in the initial setup.

Perf can get so bad as to cause timeouts. I have gotten internet
connectivity from Vista virtual machines following straight installation.
Don't try to outguess the networking questions in the OOBE. I suggest you
drop in on the microsoft.public.virtualpc ng and ask since it is about using
VPC.
