I recently installed Startup Inspector for Windows v2.0.7.51 on XP and
recommended it in another thread. I seem to recall that on the website the
name change was mentioned (from Windows Startup Inspector to Startup
Inspector for Windows) possibly due to pressure from MS, although the
original name is retained in the Properties details.
Obviously, in any program which calls home for information there is a
possibility for spyware but Spybot, Ad-aware, Spyware Blaster and Spyware
Guard do not detect any, and I see nothing suspicious in the installation
records and no advertisements. I still like the program, but I have had two
false reports while using it. One was erroneously reporting Kana Launcher as
spyware (I believe Ad-aware had a similar problem with it), the other was
reporting a non-existent trojan. The latter was apparently caused by my
having two additional instances of Windows Explorer running from shortcuts
in my Startup Folder.
Has anyone else tried the program?
