Does anyone have any feedback on a freeware program called "Windows Startup
Inspector"?

Here's the link:

No signs of adware (checked with Ad-Aware and Spybot). Running 2.08 beta.

Thats very strange because i downloaded and installed (i think it was 2.08)
about 3 weeks ago and it included a built in adware system and also in
version history mentioned that it included it (plus the name change). On goin
to the site and looking at the forum , it mentions "removed useless ads" on
the current version. Also when i downloaded it it also mentioned the name
change (its now startup inspector for windows)I believe the authour has
maybe removed the ad part of it , though there is no mention apart from this
link.

I recently installed Startup Inspector for Windows v2.0.7.51 on XP and
recommended it in another thread. I seem to recall that on the website the
name change was mentioned (from Windows Startup Inspector to Startup
Inspector for Windows) possibly due to pressure from MS, although the
original name is retained in the Properties details.

Obviously, in any program which calls home for information there is a
possibility for spyware but Spybot, Ad-aware, Spyware Blaster and Spyware
Guard do not detect any, and I see nothing suspicious in the installation
records and no advertisements. I still like the program, but I have had two
false reports while using it. One was erroneously reporting Kana Launcher as
spyware (I believe Ad-aware had a similar problem with it), the other was
reporting a non-existent trojan. The latter was apparently caused by my
having two additional instances of Windows Explorer running from shortcuts
in my Startup Folder.

Has anyone else tried the program?

The version i tried a few weeks ago contained a sort of built in ad system ,
like that found in mailwasher on the right hand side of the programme
..Unfortunatley i dont have that file on my pc to confirm the exact
build.Another quirk was that on using the "consult" button it failed to
retrieve the releveant info and gave this message..."failed to retrieve
programs information from windows startup server. Please try again later".I
have just downloaded the latest 2.09 version and this error still persists
although the ad section has been removed.I still have have version 2.05
also and this build works perfectly on my system (the consult procedure
working every time). The forum doesnt seem to be used much so i cant post
there and the help link at the site doesnt seem to be working. The link that
i posted is also the only mention of ads being removed by the author from
the build.

I've tried it and just removed it. Too many entries for well-known
programs for which it had no indication that it was a valid program.

with other startup listing programs, e.g. CodeStuff Starter...

Pacs-portal's list is also available as an exe (start_ups.exe) for use
when you can't connect to the internet, at...
