Yes, it does. No third party codecs and it just crashes for no
reason.

Pure Genius. Don't give me any **** about "its's free" no, Ispent
over $100 for the operating system, WMM isn't any more "free" than
then pen I got along with the $35,000 car I just bought.

I hope you feel better now.
Especially since many of us have been using Movie Maker for years and
generally don't have these problems but hey it must be the program and the
creator of the program that is at fault.

Couldn't have anything to do with operator error at all.

BTW
If the pen you got with your new car didn't work would you find the
manufacturers newsgroup and complain and swear at people that didn't create
the program to begin with?

Yeah, it HAS to be my fault.
I clicked "next" when trying to capture video. I mean, only a moron
like me would be stupid enough to click next.

Yes, regarding the pen, if the dealer gave me a pen that leaked I wold
bitch and moan. It would have been better off not givng me the pen in
the first place.

Remember in Windows 95 the Wang Imager? It was the ancestor to the
current Windows Image and Fax viewer. It would only open one type of
JPG, couldn't open GIFs and/or pretty much anything else. Why
bother? WMM... it can't import most movie files; what's the point?

I am not saying it IS your fault.
I am saying many people, such as myself, use Movie Maker successfully every
day without problem so how can you say Microsoft created a bad product if
millions of people work with it all the time.

And what happened? This newsgroup is here to try to help solve problems so
without information as to what the problem is as opposed to simply blaming
Microsoft and assuming the product must be crap if your having a problem how
exactly can we do that?

A leaky pen causes damage to the shirt you put it in. Movie Maker not
working properly doesn't cause your clothes any damage. I have to say this
is the first time I have had this discussion.

It works with most AVI files and with all WMV files I have ever come across.
It does generally work with MPEG1 files although I still don't like the
randomality (not a word I know) of MPEG's.
Yes better compatibility would be nice but that we learn to deal with when
talking about free, and yes it is free, software.

I can't tell you how you should or shouldn't feel ... but I
use WMM in almost every project I do. There are limitations
(for instance, I save often because I don't know when the
program will crash) and idiosyncrasies that I don't like
(for instance, it works with some mpg files and not others,
etc) but I didn't buy WMM. It came packaged with my OS. I
didn't buy WMM and it came packaged with an OS. I was
buying the OS anyway so the bonus of WMM makes it 'free'.

There are other manufacturers of software out there. Guess
what? They crash, too!!! Some of them crash just as much
or more then WMM and cost a LOT more money.
