I am getting fed up with this awful software Windows mail. I get errors with
it every day. Somtimes I can't delete mail, other times I can't move mail to
other folders. Sometimes a folder cannot be displayed at all. Every time to
get rid of these I have to reboot. Surely Microsoft must be working on
sorting out these problems. One only has to look at this forum to see the
huge number of problems users are having. How much longer do we have to wait ?

I wish I had never gone to Vista and Windows Mail. It is so so slow. Loading
some files on my new Dell laptop with 1gb memory, 120 gb disk & dual core
processor took 4 minutes as against 20 seconds on my wife's less powerful and
much older laptop running XP.

I am seriously thinking of abandoning Vista and going back to XP.

I even downloaded the Windows Live mail program to see if it would work any
better with no luck. The best think I did was uninstall McAfee & the
performance increased dramatically but I still have no email on the
notebook. My only hope is that they have it fixed buy the time I take my
trip in the spring.

I agree, Vista sucks. Took my neighbor to Thunderbird mail, almost like
Outlook Express.

It has worked properly here since December.

Since my Vista mail is corrupted & I don't expect Microsoft to fix it
anytime soon do you think Thunderbird mail will work? I hate to install it
to find the same result as with Windows mail.

I know it works because I installed it on my neighbors new HP with Vista.
The only problem I encountered was trying to bring his address book over
from Vista Mail. I had to export the Contacts list as a text file and then
import it into Thunderbird. Unfortunately it put the persons first and last
name into the first name field and their email address into the persons last
name field. But it was a simple matter of editing then one at a time and
doing some cutting and pasting.

Thunderbird will work. The only problem is that you'll have difficulty
importing anything from Windows Mail, such as account info, settings,
folder structure, saved emails, etc.

You may want to try out Windows Live Mail first, since it will import
almost everything automatically. Importing contacts is not automatic
but requires only a few mouse clicks.

Gary, I installed Windows Live Mail and had the same results as Windows
mail- I can receive but not send. Since I don't really care about my saved
mail on my desktop I'll give it a shot but I'll try & install Widows Live
one more time to see what happens. I just want to be able to receive & send
mail when I'm traveling. That's not asking to much.

Frank
If it has worked properly for you since December, how come so many people
have been complaining about it and getting constant errors ? I get errors
EVERY day. Are you using an updated version not available to the public ?
