I keep getting varients on this message pop up, usually when I'm doing
something else on the computer:-

- Windows mail is unable to switch to the newsgroup "alt xxx" on the server
"news xxx".

503 time out -

Its happening all servers except microsoft. I have the timeouts set to
maximum.

Why is it happening, and is there a way to stop it reporting this all the
time?

I've checked all setting and I cant seem to find anything that would do the
trick.

Thanks.

Its sounds as if its a question with your ISP and not WinMail.

To clarify - it's not what's triggering it, as I'm assuming that at times
the various newservers are over subscribed and therefore attempts to log in
or check for new messages fail. And I doubt theres any remedy for that at
all.

The annoying thing is that windows mail constantly reports it. So in
Windows Mail is there anyway to stop windows mail doing this? I'm seem to
remember there was a setting to untick in OE ( notify me etc) but cant see
anything in windows mail.

Thanks.

Go to Tools | Accounts | Properties and uncheck the box at the bottom that
says to include the account when checking for new messages.
