When I click on a http link in a Windows Mail email message the following
occurs -

I get a windows message stating the following -

1. Windows cannot find
http://ct.enews................../cts?d=212-1665.....
Make sure you typed the name correctly then try again.

2. My browser displays the correct page and I just have to close the error
message box.

Any idea how I can prevent the error message from occurring?

Windows Mail does not support HTTP protocol, only POP3 and IMAP. Suggest you
upgrade to Window Live Mail that supports HTTP.

This would appear to be a browser error rather than a mail error.

Fred, if Internet Explorer is not your default browser, as a test
can you try it with IE as the default?

You are correct Gary - Firefox was my default browser. The problem rectified
itself when I set IE as my default browser. Many thanks for your help.

Thanks for that feedback. I don't think Microsoft intended to
have this fail with Firefox, but the Firefox developers need to
come out with a fix for this.

Gary, when you say WM is not compatible with Norton, are you referring to
the 2007 and 2008 versions which are allegedly "certified" for Vista?

I usually qualify my advice by saying "most" Norton and
McAfee programs are not compatible. I don't have the means
to purchase and test all such programs. I can only go by what
users tell me, which often doesn't include the exact version number.
As I always say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
If the user's mail problems go away when he uninstalls the
antivirus program, then the antivirus was not compatible.
