Is there a clear difference in WM and WLM? If I use WLM but my system came
with WM can I safely remove WM? Is there a difference in the "user
friendliness" of the two mail programs?

WLM is slated to replace WM. Unfortunately you can't remove WM, you can
only
remove all accounts from it and delete the icons.

Hi, Clark.

WM is included in EVERY copy of Vista, both the billions (?) already
installed and the billions (?) more DVDs still sitting in inventory to be
installed in the future. It is an integral part of Vista and cannot be
uninstalled (by us mere mortals). As Tom Lake said, it can be ignored, but
it's still there.

WLM is a free replacement for WM and can be downloaded from
http://get.live.com/wl and installed. It will seem to delete WM, but it
only deletes WM's shortcut and icon - which you can recreate if you like.
And you can still run WM by clicking it in All Programs or by running
WinMail.exe.

You can run WM and WLM side by side while you make up your mind which one
you like best. Each will create and maintain its own separate Message
Store, so they will not conflict, and you can set each to Leave messages on
the server for a reasonable time so that you can read the same messages in
both applications and keep both Message Stores complete.

I am using both the WM and WLM on the same PC.
But I must say that I cannot understand HOW a reasonable
person could consider even WLM as a replacement of any
thing, not to mention WM. The shire awkwardness of setting and
design of this application is unforgivable. Had we have no experience
of any other Mail clients - we might be persuaded to believe that this
is the best solution for the future of e-mail client for Vista.
But this is not the case. NONE (of of 10) of my friends would
be using WLM as their default mail client.

What's a "shire awkwardness of setting" ?
I prefer WLM over WM. It does many things better.
The only major difference is the Inboxes, etc. for each account.

One user's assessment of "awkwardness" is another user's godsend.
We don't all work the same under the same circumstances.
Choice in email programs is good. If you don't like WLM or WM,
there is always Outlook or Thunderbird.
