Windows live mail and yahoo mail access issues

Help, I upgraded from windows mail to windows live mail in hopes of being
able to access my homes computer email from an outside computer. I upgraded
my Yahoo acct to Yahoo plus so I could utilize windows mail with my new vista
system and went on to WLM. When i access //home.live.com and sign in, i am
told that i do not have an inbox setup in hotmail?, do i have to use hotmail?
am i missing something. I just want to be able to see my home email folders
from another computer. Can anyone help me?
