Windows explorer

The desktop in question is running Win2k (SP3). The
problem occurs when trying to access a file on the
harddrive through windows explorer, or my computer. The
system will go idle for 20-30 seconds after clicking any
file and then resond to the request. I am not aware of
any settings that would cause this idle period.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
