I've read 100's of posts with no solution for this issue.

Files are shared on a NT4 PC(90 THOUSAND files in one
folder, due to application useage this can't be changed).
Windows 98 PC can open the folder in a couple of minutes.
NT and 2000 pc take between 10 and 12 HOURS.

I've tried deleting
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersio
n/Explorer/RemoteComputer/NameSpace D6277990-4C6A-11CF-
8D87-00AA0060F5BF
changing views
nics are set to 100 full
neither the processor nor network utilization is peg'd

What else can I do?
I've also posted this in the NT4 group with no luck.

I'm assuming you're referring to using the Explorer, and not to just
querying the directory...

Have you tried running with the latest Windows 2000 Service Pack? There
have been a number of fixes to this kind of behavior as well as performance
options added. Knowledge Base article 265396 speaks to some of these
directly. Part of what's going on is that Explorer is making an effort to
glean as much information as possible from the files, and over the network
this can take much longer than expected.
