I know this is getting old for some:

I can get windows defender to start by manually starting the service. No
problem there.

What I am tired of is HAVING to do that every time I reboot.

Each time I reboot and get that error message the service is set to
"disabled". Why?

None of the solutions I've found have any permanent affect. They get it
running, but the problem returns on rebooting th system.

Since this is "supposed" to be a Microsoft application created BY Microsoft,
I would EXPECT it to work as advertized.

I'm running XP Pro, SP2, Version 5.1.2600. I've run every update in MS
Update (Except IE7) and still get the error.

My time is correct, I've re-registered all of the .dll's as suggested. If
you do a search on this site of 0x800106ba, if you see it, I've done it.

I just want something that works.

Thanks in advance
