After starting a game it either freezes or reboots my
system. Dosen't matter on what game since I've tried many
with same results. Problem with this is it started
happining today.

I have all current service and critical updates with
winXP home Ed. as well as drivers. system is a 3.06Ghz
P4, 512 MB DDR system Mem., 128Mb ATI Radeon 9600 pro.,
SB Audigy Plat., running DirectX 9.0b.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you also install/update the latest motherboard chipset drivers??

What is the total wattage of the power supply? I have seen "good" standard
250 watts power supply fail to provide enough power when I started any
game. Power supplies of 300 watts (or more) seem to give more power to the
PC when I start any game.

I've got a similar problem, When it freezes do you get a
blue screen showing info on the problem? Mine was the
result of my ATI Radeon Mobility video card seems that
PCI cards like mine and yours just can't keep up with
some games best to switch to a AGP card.
This may not be the answer to your problem but it's
probably worth looking into.
Hope it helps.
