Windows 2000 Not able to connect to Novell mounted drive

Not able to write to UNC path \\server\vol1\drive\test\
via 3rd party software running as a service, able to
create file via local prompt or explorer. Logon
credentials changed from local to account with
credentials to save on novell drive.
Found Hotfix for XP service pack 2 resolving above issue,
cannot find any fix for 2000.
Running 2000 service pack 2.
Does the logon credentials take effect in 2000 or do we
experience simular problem as XP.
