I was using my computer without any problems yesterday. I shut it off
without any problems. An hour later I decided to get back on and the Window
XP screen with the blue dashes that appear in a little caption bubble at the
buttom of the screen appear and woudln't advance to the next stage.

I turned off the computer by pushing the "on" button and held it until the
computer went off. Then I turned it back on and a black screen with white
text advising that it was turned off incorrectly appears. It states that I
need to select a setting i.e. a safe mode, safe mode with networking, etc. I
chose safe mode with network and restored my computer to its original
settings for 9/1.

This didn't help. Then I turn off the computer by going to start menu and
selected shut off computer and restarted the computer. it still got stuck in
the beginning stage with the display of Window XP and the blue dashes going
across in the little caption bubble as if it is waiting for the applications
to load.

I am able to function in the sage mode and networking stage but not in the
normal stage.

I didn't down loan any applications or made any changes on the computer.

Can anyone explain what is happening and how I can correct this?

Thanks!

Hi.little late for reply,but i didn,t see any on the page.So i thought i,d
put in my 2 cents. You probably have it fixed by now ,but if you have trouble
like that if you can start in safe mode.Click start, all
programs,accessories,system tools.You will see system restore.This will
restore the pc to an earlier date when it was working good.Hope this
helps.TERRY.
