I have a new laptop and my clumsiness with the touch pad
caused me to shift/delete windows explorer. It is no
longer in the accessories drop down menu or the recycle
bin.

How can I restore and/or reinstall windows explorer? I
have Windows XP home addition.

You simply deleted the shortcut to Windows Explorer. Right click an empty
spot on the Desktop and select New/Shortcut. For the location, type
Explorer.exe and click Next. Name the shortcut Windows Explorer and click
Finish. Place the shortcut wherever you wish.

Ronnie has told you how to restore your shortcut. You can also access
Windows Explorer via Windows Key E.

The desktop shortcut was all that was deleted. You can't
delete explorer.exe the system won't let you. An easy way
to replace this sort of thing without having to know all
the paths and do a lot of typeing is to right click on the
start button and then click explore all users and then
double click on windows and in the right panel locate
explorer.exe.Right click on it and then click create
shortcut. Now reduce the window size(so you can see part
of the desktop) and then left click on the shortcut you
just created and holding the key down drag and drop it to
desktop. This will place a shortcut on the desktop. This
is the same thing as the others mentioned but you don't
have to do any typing and possibly get the pathe wrong.
keep smiling.
