Win XP cannot print from DOS-based program

A Windows XP computer cannot print from DOS-based program
(from Word or any other win-based program it funktion)
to a network printer or local usb printer.

(net use lpt1: \\compname\printername /persistent:yes
it says yes, thr spooler get the jop but nothing happens.)

the printer says its printing ,but its not...
nad then says its done

can you help for I can get this working.
