Hi, I'm trying installation of Win 2000 pro into my Maxtor 60GB.
My mother board company, Elite P6BXT A+, has the last update in their web,
Award 4.51PG. and they claim it support over 40GB.
But Maxtor.com claims Award 4.51PG has problem over 32GB drive.

Anyway, in CMOS auto HDD detection, it looks OK.
and with Maxtor's MaxBlast s/w, I could do partition and format.
However, after booting with Win 2000 CD-ROM, I tried to install Win 2000,
CD setup says need to format the partition
and the formatting ends up error and failure of installation.

When I boot with Win98 old disk,
the large partition formatted by MaxBlast s/w looks fine.

So, I guess Win 2000 pro has problem to support large partition.

Also I don't want to waist the drive size.

What can I do? anybody have any comment?
Sean.

Ive you try to make smaller partition. make 2 of 30GB...
you should be able to install on the first partition after
this.

Don't use MaxBlast.
Use Windows 2000 setup program to partition and format the hard drive.

I found gdisk.exe which can fdisk and format very quickly.
So, I made and format partitions 15/5/30/10 GB each with gdisk.exe.
And boot from Win2000 CD-ROM, it detected the partitions well
I installed perfectly. now using Win 2000. Thanks.
MaxBlast sucks!
