Hi
My problem is I cannot see video stream from Canon .avi files insted of that
I have just still green picture whenever player I use WMP,DIVx,Light Alloy
all the same picture. But I could.
How I came to that? There showed up some annoying pop-ups (during playback
..avi in WMP ) from some Morgan Multimedia that Trial period has expiered. DO
NOT KNOW WHERE IT CAME FROM! And I did what Morgan suggested to avoid that
installed legally that codec from them and then uninstalled it.You can read
about that in their home page.
Now I have just still green picture.I checked these .avi files in GSpot,
seems everything fine with codecs.I can play and see .mpeg,.wmv.,asf and all
other types with no problems but can not .avi .Did I smth wrong with that
uninstallation.
I hope that for somebody all this is as clear as a day.
Thanks in advance and sorry if there is smth wrong with my english but it's
not my native

The cure for your nightmare is to download the G-Spot codec identifier and
see what the files are really encoded with!
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

One of the common errors is having too many codecs. XP gets confused, the
codecs get confused and the result is the user sees nothing - or very
little.

Thanks Cari
Ok later will run these .avi in G-spot and post in what it shows to me
But anyway what is the best action afterwards must I uninstall unused codecs
or I can somehow specify what codec to be used for .avi?

The two most common are Divx and Xvid. I haven't come across many others
that need other codecs so I'd probably keep just these two for AVI files.
Obviously you'll still need other codecs... for MPEG files for example.

Do you have the latest version of Divx? (www.divx.com) Does it play if you
use the Divx Player?

Yes i have latest version but it looks that your quess is right,
Divx does not play file here' the mesege:

Video data is not recognized by Divx
Video data: FOURCC code "MJPG"

But in that case WMP10 should be able to play that file or I am wrong?

Thanks for your patience Cari

What exactly did you do to fix it? I am having following you on your last
post and I am having your same problem. Everything started when I tried to
save an AVI clip with movie maker into another format. Movie Maker crashed
and since then I cannot view these AVI files from my Canon.

Thank you so much!
