I am relatively new to microsoft outlook, but it was working alright for me
until about 2 weeks ago when everything in my inbox was gone. I also am not
recieving messages that people have said they have sent me. Is there a
reason why?

So it's completely empty? Tried resetting your view already? View-> Arrange
By-> Current View-> button at the bottom of the window
