My mother had a brand new computer bought for her birthday direct from Acer.
This morning, she went out and bought a new webcam for her new pc, which has
Windows Vista as she couldn't find Vista compatible drivers for her old one.
She followed the instructions for installation of the software disk that came
with the webcam, it said it needed to reboot, so she clicked yes and now her
computer won't even load up windows. It comes to a Windows startup error
screen that says software or hardware has caused an error and gives 2
options. The first option is to launch startup repair and the second to
continue to windows. When the first option is selected, the screen goes
black then comes straight back to the same screen again. I've even tried
leaving it for the 30 seconds it says it'll take to load the selected item
automatically. If I select to continue to Windows, it reboots the computer
and goes straight back to the same screen. I've pressed F5 to get into the
additional setup, where it says to press F8, which brings up the screen for
safe mode etc, which it won't even load in.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to get windows to load back up again?
I should mention that she didn't know she had to manually burn the recovery
disk herself, as she's never had Windows Vista before as her previous PC had
Windows ME.
