Hi All,
I look after two W2K servers in a High School. I have only been able to find
one W2K CD and therefore one product key. Both server installations use the
same product key - I used a utility called keyfinder to determine this. It
may be perfectly legal, it's just that I can not find any documentation to
support this. Is it possible that the school could have purchased two
licences for the one media? If so, how can I find out short of ringing MS,
or is that the only way?

Yes, I asked at the school but drew a blank. Any other

To my knowledge, when you buy W2K server (or any OS for that matter), you
are really buying the license. CD key's don't correspond to licenses. When I
have purchased in the past, I usually buy X licenses and 1 or 2 media disks.
So it is entirely possible that you've purchased two licenses and one media.
The catch is, you'll need a license certificate to prove you own two copies.
If you don't even have one, then you'll need to purchase them, even if you
have the media with a key.
