Vista maping drive to server 2000 shared drive not recognize user/

Tried to map a driver to server 2000 shared drive, I see the server 2000 and
I mapped vista but does not recognize my user name and password. I tried
different user name password still does not accept any user name or password,
I beleilve there is some security issue? Help

Is the server on a domain? Did you specify your username as
DOMAIN\USERNAME? If not, specify your username as
SERVERNAME\USERNAME.

See if either of those help...
