Hi,

I was told by Dell sales that Vista Business does not support current
fingerprint reader.

Does anyone use fingerprint reader (any brands on any systems) with Vista?

Thanks in advance.

Hi:

I just got a HP Pavilion Media Center dv2530ea. It comes with windows vista
home premiun and it has been updated to windows vista premiun. In both cases
the fingerpint reader works flawlessly. If you need more info let me know.

Hi,

Thanks for your kind reply.

After searching on the net, I was about to give up since I found many
unresolved problems for fingerprint reader and I also found the following
article on MS site:

You cannot use a fingerprint reader or another biometric device to log on
after you upgrade to Windows Vista
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926673

Based on the article, it seems that it is by design since the solution is to
use keyboard.

I'd appreciate if you could tell me, the maker of the fingerprint reader
and/or model name, and I can do some study from there.

Thanks again.

Hi,

You are right. I checked Sony site and it does come with Vista business
driver.

And I also checked Dell support page, and it does come with Vista driver for
the mobile workstation.

Ok, I need to talk to the sales.

Many thanks.

Hi,

Thanks again, but I guess the puzzle is solved. It appears some models will
work, such as yours and Dyawlak's Sony.

So I need to check with Dell for sure.

Thanks for your kind reply.

PS: Sorry for those who care, I double posted instead cross posted to Vista
General, because I initially forgot this one.
