I am using a Samsung SCX-4100 MFM device which is connected to my
system via a USB port.

Although Samsung's application sees the scanner and is able to use it,
MS Vista's Fax & Scan application doesn't see this device.

When I try to install the scanner using Vista, it comes up as a Xerox
Network scanner... which it is not. (doesn't work either).

I am using the current Samsung drivers (Vista compatible).

Any ideas, comments?

From my experience in getting my old HP SJ5P scanner working under VISTA
(and XP and W2K) I'd say this indicates that the Samsung software is
using TWAIN to communicate with the scanner and this works under VISTA
-- but the Fax & Scan Utility does not use TWAIN.

Does it matter? From what I see here we are all lucky to get out
scanners and all-in-ones working at all!
