Vista 64 bit on Radeon X1600 Pro Problem

Has any solution to Vista 64 bit crashing at the end of the setup process
when using a Radeon X1600 Pro PCIx card? The installation goes all the way
through and then BSOD when Vista 64 is about to start for the first time. Is
there a way to force a particular driver to get it running and then install a
better one once it's up?
